On Saturday November 16, Callaway volunteers prepared and served lunch for guests, families, and staff at the Ronald McDonald House San Diego. We also hosted a food drive at HQ for canned goods and other needed items and delivered them to the facility. Callaway also donated $500 to Ronald McDonald House San Diego.
We started at 10:00am with a guided tour of the facility, which was really impressive. They had everything from 3D printers in the classroom, to a hair and nail salon and a nap room. We then went to the kitchen to prepare lunch, which included salad, beef stroganoff, pasta with veggies and marinara sauce, and rolls. This was where we spent the majority of our time. Some volunteers served the lunch while others started to clean up. A couple of us assisted with an arts and crafts table. We were also responsible for sanitizing all work and eating surfaces before and after lunch and washing and cleaning everything up in the kitchen. We wrapped up around 1:30pm.
Overall the event went very well – volunteers seemed to enjoy it and have fun. It was rewarding to be able to provide a meal for families that are going through difficult times.
